ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

Himalayan Project is co-operating with Rotary about implementing some of our projects. What HP can't manage, Rotary can, and other smaller projects which is outside of Rotary's interests, HP can do. For Nepali City Rotarians it is a little inconvenient to go every now and then to monitor the projects in between the remote mountains in Solu, which HIPRON is very keen at. In this way we are perfectly complementary.

Rotary International is a international union of Rotary-clubs in 166 countries with 1,2 million members.
Out of these 272 clubs exist in Danmark with 11.700 members.
Out of these 47 (49 incl Færøerne) clubs exist in District 1440 - Nordjylland with roughly 2.000 members.
Rotary-clubs are having weekly meetings with holder ugentlige møder med socialt fellowship, lectures and discussions.
Rotary-clubs performing social work in their local area as well as international.

One of those clubs are Skivehus Rotary Klub, which implemented the construction of Chhimbu Primary School in 1999 (click "Uddannelse") and since then have been in charge of the operation of the school, in cooperation with Schwerin Rotary Klub, Germany, Padborg-Kruså Rotary Klub and Skive Rotary Klub.

The construction og a toilet at Sagar-Bakanje School were supported by Nykøbing Rotary Klub with technical help from Skivehus Rotary Klub.

In 2006 Sydthy Rotary Klub supported the reconstruction of Loding School after it burned down. Also this project were supervised by Skivehus Rotary Klub.

In 2007 Padborg-Kruså Rotary Klub entered the scene very strongly by supporting the establishing of School Playground and Kindergarden-room at Chhimbu School, reconstruction of Sagar-Bakanje School old wing, establishing of Science Facilities at Sagar-Bakanje School, upgrading and reconstruction of Thamakhani Skole, replacement of tin roof at Mopung School, purchasing books and science equipment at Unique Boarding School in Kathmandu and finally purchasing complete computerequipment for HIPRON's office in Kathmandu.

Likewise in 2007 Vinderup Rotary Klub supported establishing of computereducation at Mount Everest School in Salleri and is ready to set up communicational equipment in Junbesi, when the district has established a central Tele-Tower.

And finally has Køge Nord Rotary Klub given ½ years salary for teacher Nuru Jangbu in Sagar-Bakanje and is supporting a bigger reconstruction of the preprimary school in Solung.

Skivehus Rotary Klub was the promoter of the future construction project of Junbesi Secondary Technical School (click "Education") and there had been given commitment from the following Rotary-clubs in Nepal: Rotary Club of Kathmandu, Rotary Club of Lalitpur, Rotary Club of Mount Everest, Rotary Club of Yala, Rotary Club of Patan West, Rotary Club of Himalaya Patan, Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square, Rotary Club of Thamel, Rotary Club of Dillibazar and from the following Rotary-clubs in Danmark: Skive Rotary Klub, Nykøbing Rotary Klub, Thisted Rotary Klub, Sydthy Rotary Klub, Skals Rotary Klub, Kjellerup Rotary Klub, Nibe Rotary Klub, Farsø Rotary Klub, Hobro Rotary Klub, Dronninglund Rotary Klub, Bjerringbro Rotary Klub and from the following Rotary-clubs in other countries: Schwerin Rotary Klub (Germany). But after having initiated the Survey 2005, Skivehus Rotary Klub suddenly and without notice closed the promissed financial support in summer 2005 and announced that the club didn't want to take part of the Junbesi School Project. The project though is still alive and still under preparation and investigation, and will be given as proposal in many smaller part-projects for interested Rotary Clubs and for other who are interested, when time is ready.

In 2006 and 2008 members of Skivehus Rotary Klub published a Catalogue of Projects, from which interested Rotary clubs (and others as well) can choose their own project in Upper Solu. The files can be downloaded from here: Introduction and Rotary Projects Overview and Catalogue of Projects (English - 0,4 MB)

In Nepal we are cooperating with Rotary Club of Kathmandu and Rotary Club of Lalitpur. They are working as the Rotary guarantee that everything is working without any malfunctions. They receives the capital transfers and are forwarding it for the project site. Both clubs have a representative in the Board of HIPRON, Chairman Bishnu Subedi (Rotary Club of Kathmandu) and Vicechairman Madhur Shrestha (Rotary Club of Lalitpur). HP, HIPRON and involved rotary clubs are in that way closely connected in the implemention of their common projects.
